Platinum Jubilee Celebrations : J&K Bank begins massive plantation drive
J&K Bank commenced its massive plantation drive today, also observed as the World Arbour Day, to celebrate its 75th year i.e. Platinum Jubilee, in which 75000 saplings of various species will be planted throughout the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The main functions were held in Rajinder Park Jammu and Badamvaer Srinagar.
Led by the Bank's Chairman and CEO Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad, Zonal Head Jammu along with other officers planted different trees at Rajinder Park Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Mushtaq Ahmad said, "J&K Bank Ltd. is into 75th year of its illustrious journey, which marks the momentous milestone in the history of our beloved institution. It is a challenge to hold on to and further build upon this legacy, which I believe we will accomplish with integrity and commitment."
Recognizing the contribution of the state in its growth and progress, J&K Bank wants to celebrate this landmark year with one of its most important stakeholder, the people of J&K," he added.
"Remaining committed to the cause of community development, this plantation drive is also an attempt to preserve the pristine landscape of J&K", he said.
In Srinagar, the drive was conducted mainly at Badamvaer where the Bank's Executive President Parvez Ahmad along with Presidents, Vice Presidents and other top executives of the Bank planted different saplings in the park.
Both the parks are established and maintained by the Bank under its Heritage Preservation Programme.
Commenting on the plantation drive, Executive President Parvez Ahmad said, "Being responsible corporate citizen J&K Bank understands its role in preservation of state ecology. Planting of 75000 trees in the state is a step towards this direction and marks the beginning of initiatives to be undertaken by the Bank during the platinum year of its inspiring journey."
"In a symbolic sense, the drive commences on the occasion of Navroz and World Arbour Day. But the substance of this drive is to express Bank's everyday commitment towards peoples' concerns even beyond economy," he said.
In this special drive, the Bank engaged civil society members including students, academics, professionals, artists, senior citizens and other sections of society to make it an inclusive and participatory initiative of the larger community.
All the zonal and cluster offices keenly participated in the special drive and on the first day itself 48,750 saplings of various species were planted at scores of places in almost all the districts across J&K.
These include, Iqbal Park, JVC Medical College, S P College, Islamia High School, , Green Valley Educational Institute etc. in Srinagar; various schools, colleges and parks in Budgam, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Kupwara, Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian, Rajouri, Kathua, Doda, Kishtwar, Samba, Poonch, and Reasi.
