Continuing with its endeavor to bring people of unbanked areas under the banking ambit, Business Cluster – 1, Jammu North, Udhampur conducted two Financial Literacy camps at Basantgarh & Dudu, one the remotest area of District: Udhampur.


On the occasion, while interacting with the gathering, S. Iqbal Singh, Cluster Head, J&K Bank informed the gathering that bank is planning to open five more branches in Udhampur District alone in the current financial year which includes the branch at Dudu, Mantalai, Kulwanta & Pattangarh.


On the occasion a number of pieces of soiled / mutilated currency notes were exchanged and coins of denomination of Rs. 1, 2, 5 & 10 were also distributed.


People present thanked the initiative taken by J&K Bank in its outreach efforts & expressed their sincere gratitude to the Worthy Chairman of the bank, Jenab Mushtaq Ahmed Saab for fulfilling the long pending demand of the people of these remote areas for opening of new branches in these areas.


Similarly, Lead Bank Office and FLCC Shopian organized a special Relief cum Credit Awareness Camp at Zainapora Shopian almost 22 Kilometers from Shopian town. More than 100 people from the village and its mufasil villages attended the camp.


Meanwhile, J&K Bank president, R. K. Chibber said that the bank is vigorously bringing unbanked ad unreached population into the banking fold thorugh its financial inclusion mission of ‘reaching to the unreached’. “All targets set under the programme are being met under the guidance of our chairman and chief executive officer Mushtaq Ahmad,“ he said and further stated that the bank is simultaneously educating the masses about the benefits of getting into the fold of the banking system. “We are schemes for every economic sector and people should take benefit of these schemes, be it deposit schemes or loan schemes,” he said.


Notably, J&K Bank in its outreach efforts is  providing banking facilities to unbanked areas. He also appraised those present about the salient features of the recently launched Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna.
