J&K Bank organises painting contest in Leh
Scores of students from more than dozen schools of Leh and its adjoining areas today gathered in High School Leh to compete for creating the most interesting images depicting the impact of vehicular pollution on the Leh environs in future.
Catching them young, J&K Bank organised the painting contest among the children with a view to create awareness about environment and to inculcate eco-friendly values and attitudes in them.
The bank's Executive President Abdul Hamid Banday was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Abdul Hamid Banday expressed his satisfaction and happiness over the keen participation of school kids in this competition.
He said, "Environment is now the subject of concern and vibrant debate across the world. We too need to educate our posterity quite early and make them aware about the environmental challenges we face and the ways to deal with these."
He thanked the Heads of all participating schools for their whole-hearted participation in the event.
President of the bank Mohammad Sayed Wani, Zonal Head M Younis Patoo, along with other staff and teachers from various participating schools were also present during the event.
Ghulam Mustafa, who is a freelance artist from Leh, was the judge for the contest. He appreciated the bank for organizing such concept-based contest in remote and eco-fragile areas like Leh.
"Organizing such events in small but ecologically sensitive places like Leh is a matter of encouragement for these young children. More so at this age they come to know and learn about how fragile our eco-system really is."
Executive President presented trophies for the top three paintings of the competition and distributed ten consolation cash prizes among the distinguished participants.
Besides, each of the students was conferred with "Certificate of Participation".
