In order to give boost to agriculture sector J&K Bank organised awareness cum credit camps for Kissan Credit Card at Marheen (Kathua) and Akhnoor. Besides, the bank opened its business unit at Lander in Udhampur.
President and Zonal Head Jammu (Central) Om Prakash Sharma was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Others present on the occasion were Cluster Heads, Head B.Us, officers from zonal office along with Sarpanches, Panches of surrounding villages and a good number of KCC beneficiaries.
The Zonal Head distributed Kissan Credit Cards among 207 beneficiaries involving an amount of Rs 114.00 lacs and 20 Tractor Loans amounting to Rs.57.00 Lacs at Marheen and 985 Kissan Credit Cards involving 105.00 lacs at Akhnoor.
Notably a total of 10,000 Kissan Credit Cards have been sanctioned against 13,000 application forms received in the zone during the last two and half months besides a total of 8,400 cards stand issued to the farmers. Out of three districts in the zone i.e. Jammu, Samba and Kathua; district Samba is leading the table with 5,600 cases sanctioned and 4,400 cards issued.
The Zonal Head apprised the farmers about implementation and benefits of Kissan Credit Card and assured the participants that such awareness cum credit camps would be organized under different schemes in future also. He stressed upon them to come forward and avail benefits of the tailor made schemes for their overall economic development.
He asked the farmers at Akhnoor to diversify into horticulture and floriculture for better returns and constitute Farmer Clubs for better co-ordination with the bank. Addressing ladies he urged them to form Self Help Groups and assured full support of the bank to women entrepreneurs for establishing their units. The farmers & beneficiaries hailed the pro-active approach of the Bank while processing & sanctioning of KCC in a hassle free manner.
Meanwhile the business unit at remote location of Lander, is the 18th Business Unit in the district of Udhampur. The unit is fully computerized connected throughout the country through CBS. Iqbal Singh, Cluster Head, Business Cluster-1, Udhampur asked all the people of the area to make full use of various facilities offered by the bank. He impressed upon all the people to avail benefits of various schemes of the bank for upliftment of themselves in particular & of the whole area of Lander in general.
Large number of villagers and various government employees were present on the occasion. Ravi Kumar, Branch Head – Lander & other staff members of the bank too were present there.
