J&K Bank organises customers' meet on Ombudsman, conducts camps
Requested by the Banking Ombudsman Office (New Delhi), J&K Bank organised a Town Hall event at the Police Auditorium in Jammu.
The meeting was convened to educate the bank customers about the customer service initiatives and the grievance redressal mechanisms put in place by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The meeting was attended by a cross-section of bank customers.
The meeting was presided over by M RajeshwarRao, CGM and Banking Ombudsman, New Delhi.
Regional Director, RBI Jammu K KSaraf, GM Customer Service Department RBI, D G Kale, President J&K Bank O P Sharma, Vice President J&K Bank M S Wani, DGM SBI A K Jain, and DGM, PNB Ashok Gupta attended the meeting.
During the discussions various aspects regarding the safeguards to be ensured by the customers and the need for awareness to ensure safety of their funds were also discussed.
The participants were made aware of the role of Banking Ombudsman, procedure to be followed for filing complaints under the Banking Ombudsman.
The officials also clarified several issues related to the banking services raised by the customers during the question and answer session that followed the discussions.
Banking Ombudsman Chandigarh J Tashi also participated the meeting.

FLCC Camp at LelharPulwama
The Bank conducted a financial literacy camp at village Lelhar in KakporaPulwama.
A good number of local residents including sarpanches, panches of the area participated in the camp. The programme was also attended by the Bank's B.U Head Kakapora, officers' in-charge of EllaquaiDehati Bank Anantnag and Central Cooperative bank, Kakapora.
FLCC Facilitator M S Parray explained to the participants the objective and purpose of organizing awareness camps in the district.
He discussed at length the benefits of opening accounts with the banks, not only for savings but also in view of government plan of direct transfer of subsidy and other benefits to the accounts of beneficiaries.
He impressed upon the participants to avail the benefits of various self employment schemes of various banks. Head B. U Kakapora advised the participants to cultivate the habit of prompt re-payment of the bank loans so that the mutual trust between the banks and the public is further strengthened.
Officer in-charge EDB Kakapora spoke about the different deposit schemes of EDB.
As a part of financial inclusion, account opening forms of J&K Bank were distributed amongst the participants during the camp.

Awareness Camp in Kulgam
The Bank conducted an awareness camp on Apple Project at ChowgamDewsar in Kulgam in which large number of apple growers of the area was invited.
The participants were made aware of the financial, technical and marketing facilities available under J&K Bank Apple Project.
The participants hailed the efforts made by the Bank in economic upliftment of apple growers of the area. The Apple Project team appraised the participants about the efforts of the bank for making them self reliant. Cluster Head Kulgam Peer Masood Ahmad who chaired the camp assured the participants of hassle free loans under Apple Advance scheme.
The Bank has already organized similar camps at Pahaloo, D K Marg, Sopore, Ahmadabad, and ManzgamChekpora, DewsarNehama& Waltangoo during the current month.
Besides others Director J&K Bank RSETI Kulgam Mohammad Shafi participated in the camp and appraised the people about the various skill development programmes.
Head B.U Dewsar presented the vote of thanks.
