J&K Bank holds financial literacy camps across state
J&K Bank conducted several financial literacy and credit counselling camps across the state. The camps were attended by large number of people belonging to various sectors of economy.
A Financial Literacy and Credit Counseling session was organized at Arampora Sopore in which 20 female trainees undergoing six months training in cutting and tailoring through District Urban Development Agency in collaboration with Women's Polytechnic Srinagar participated.
The facilitator gave awareness about SJSRY (Swaran Jayanti Shehri Rozgar Yojna) scheme both for individuals and self help groups. He discussed all the parameters of the scheme with the trainees including subsidy and support available from District urban development agency including marketing.
The facilitator also threw light on group formation, pre sanction and post sanction formalities to be fulfilled by the trainees at bank level both in individual as well as group capacity.
Earlier on September 27 similar camp was organized by Financial Literacy and Credit Counseling Centre Baramulla at Rural Self Employment and Training Institute (RSETI) Sopore for a joint batch of fifty four (54) trainees undergoing Entrepreneurship Development Training for capacity and skill building.
The facilitator FLCC Baramulla gave awareness about the purpose and main objectives of opening of RSETI's and FLCC Centres at District levels under Reserve Bank of India directions. Whereas the FLCC Centres would provide financial literacy and credit counseling, the activities of RSETI's towards Skill Development and capacity building could be dovetailed with FLCC initiates, for increasing the earnings of the families.
Literacy was provided by facilitator regarding essential and non essential expenses, early savings, why save, why save with banks.
Kisan credit card scheme, education loan, computer and laptop loan facilities, subsidy linked plans of Govt. agencies with special emphasis on SJSRY, self help groups were deliberated upon in detail for awareness by the facilitator FLCC Baramulla.
Similarly the bank's Business Cluster – 1, Jammu North, Udhampur conducted financial Literacy camp at Kherri, District: Ramban. On the occasion, S. Iqbal Singh, Cluster Head, discussed with the gathering of villagers, about the concept of financial literacy, its various aspects & about the benefits of being Financially Literate. He highlighted the various initiatives taken by the bank for eradication of unemployment & up-liftment of economically backward sections in the area.
On the occasion, President, Beopar Mandal, Mohd. Yaseen, and others including Ghulam Qadir, Abdul Majid spoke on behalf of the people present thanked the initiative taken by J&K Bank in its outreach efforts & expressed their sincere gratitude to the Worthy Chairman of the bank, Mushtaq Ahmed for fulfilling the long pending demand of the people of the area by sanction a new branch at Kherri.
It's also worth mentioning that four such awareness camps were conducted by the J&K Bank/Lead Bank Office Kulgam & FLCC Kulgam at village Boh, Government High School Mirhama, Largoo Rambhama & Sailkhanan in the last week of September.
The FLCC Mr. A.R Hakeem gave an exhaustive description of JK Bank products & the LDM G.N Dar elaborated before the audience various schemes particularly KISSAN CREDIT CARDS for horticulturists/Agriculturalists.
