J&K Bank holds financial literacy camps
With a view to educate the rural people J&K Bank organised financial literacy camps in Shopian, Bandipora and Uri.
Shopian
The camps were conducted in Saidpora, Posh-hama and Pinjoora, in which large number of local residents participated.
During these camps, Facilitator FLCC Shopian M A Jan informed the participants about the programme of financial inclusion.
He said that these programmes were aimed at educating the people about basic financial planning and the role banks are playing for improving the basic economic conditions of the people living in rural areas.
Lead District Manager Shopian M Saleem Wani gave a detailed overview of the various schemes available in the Banks for rural areas.
He discussed Kissan Credit Card scheme and asked the people to adopt the scheme for the overall growth of horticulture and agricultural products.
He urged the participants to avail low interest loan schemes of banks under KCC, which carries a further interest subvention of 3% if the debts are repaid within a specified period of time.
Many other schemes like housing loan, artisan finance and educational loan for students and its interest subsidy were also discussed.
Cluster Head Shopian Javed Ahmad Bhat in his brief speech at Posh-hama said that the Bank was contributing to the rural development in far off areas by opening new branches and customer service centres.
On the occasion, he also distributed Kissan Credit Cards to the beneficiaries pertaining to B.U at Kapran.
The participants at these camps thanked the Bank for conducting such awareness programmes.
Bandipora
Many such awareness camps were conducted at Soderkote Bala, Shahgund, Malangam, Pazalpora and Higher Secondary School Hajin in Bandipora.
The camps were attended by large number of local villagers including students, teachers, panches and sarpanches.
Officers from FLCC Bandipore and Lead Bank explained in detail the benefit of savings with the banks. The participants were educated about KCC besides various bank schemes that have been tailor-made to meet their financial requirements.
Uri
A financial literacy camp was organised at Government High school Gingle in Uri civil, which was attended by a good gathering from villages Gingle and Dhani-sayda.
Facilitator FLCC Baramulla explained the purpose of opening of FLCC centres by lead banks in their respective states.
He discussed opening of no-frill accounts, introduction of smart cards and benefits of being linked to financial institutions like multiplication of savings, passing on the benefits of the subsidies directly to the beneficiaries' accounts without the interference of middlemen.
Head B.U Uri Civil also deliberated upon education loan scheme, trade loans, transport loans, loans to agriculture and allied activities and other income generating loans for educated unemployed youth. He also discussed Bank's various deposit schemes.
LDM Baramulla explained the role played by lead bank in ensuring formulation of District Credit Plans for banks and ensuring its achievement by the banks in the district, thus paving way for the overall development of the state.
