J&K Bank RSETI Srinagar concluded two training programmes on Crewel Work (15-days) and Fashion Designing for women (21-days) wherein trainees from flood affected areas like Sonwar, Shivpora, Lasjan, Chattabal, Rainawari, Miskeen Bagh, Nowgam and Eidgah participated.
The bank’s President Muhammad Amin Mir presided over the valedictory programme in presence of Zonal Head Kashmir (Central) Abdul Rashid Sheigan, Vice-president A K Pandita, Lead District Manager, Facilitator FLCC and Head B.U Sonwar.
The candidates were selected in entrepreneurship awareness camps conducted by the Institute in these areas. They belong to down trodden and below poverty line families and most of them have lost their belongings at their residences which were submerged in waters.
The bank’s President also released a video covering various training activities of the Institute on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, he advised the trainees to work hard and prove their mettle by becoming successful entrepreneurs.
Urging them to be role models in society he asked them to make sincere efforts in building their businesses provide employment to others as well.
Zonal Head A R Sheigan expressed hope that outgoing trainees will establish their enterprise and earn their livelihood in most respectable and dignified manner.
A k Pandita stressed upon the outgoing trainees to take their learning during the program seriously and start their business at the earliest.
This craft can become a life-long source of income for all of you if only you put in all your energies into establishing a viable business, he said.
Earlier Director RSETI Muhammad Afzal Shah welcomed all the dignitaries and highlighted the performance of the Institute and gave brief resume of training programs.
He said, “Till date, 480 men and women have been imparted skills and training in different crafts and activities comprising of 19 programs. Settlement rate of trainees so far is 60%.”
Notably, the departments of Handicraft and Handloom conducted on spot craft test of these trainees which they qualified successfully. Registration cards were also issued to the trainees which will entitle them to avail credit facilities from banks for starting self-enterprise.
The function concluded with a vote of thanks.
Meanwhile, a mega awareness camp for opening of accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna (PMJDY) was conducted at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Beerwah in Budgam. Cluster Head M A Wanchoo presided over the camp that was attended by a large number of people including students, staff and other local residents.
Speaking on the occasion, Cluster Head initiated a fruitful discussion among the participants about the benefits of PMJDY, its benefits like insurance cover, overdraft facility and other linkages.
He assured the public that the bank will leave no stone unturned in reaching out to the common masses remaining outside formal economy so far and making the programme a success.
He asked for full support and cooperation from the audience in getting the mega project completed within the targeted time frame.
Lead Bank Officer Budgam Shahzad H Teli, Facilitator FLCC A H Rafiqui also spoke about the PMJDY.
Earlier, inaugurating the camp Head Business Unit Beerwah Ghulam Mohmmad Ahanger welcomed the guests and the participants of the camp. He stressed on the need of involvement of the general people for successful completion of the newly launched Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna (PMJDY).
Other dignitaries who participated in the camp were Principal Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Beerwah Verinder Kumar Veer, Principal Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Beerwah Syed Mohd Ashraf, and Block Development Officer Beerwah Showkat Ahmad.
