J&K Bank to donate CRRT & Colour Doppler Ultrasound machines to SKIMS
Director SKIMS hails the bank’s life saving initiatives
Under one of its major Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, J&K Bank will be donating Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and Colour Doppler Ultrasound machines to the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS). This was announced by the J&K Bank Chairman & CEO, Mushtaq Ahmad while inaugurating expanded dialysis ward at SKIMS in presence of its Director, Dr. Showkat Zargar. J&K Bank Senior President, Abdul Rauf Bhat, senior doctors of the institute and the bank were also present on the occasion.
Notably, the bank has donated five state of the art dialysis machines costing over Rs.35 lacs to the institute for free use of patients suffering from renal failure.
Meanwhile, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) machine will be first of its kind in the state and will provide a huge relief to the patients critically ill with acute & chronic kidney injury (AKI). Notably, CRRT provides slow and balanced fluid removal that even unstable patients with shock or severe fluid overload can more easily tolerate. At the moment this facility is not available in any healthcare institute in the state and patients are rushed to other parts of the country at a huge cost.
Speaking on the occasion, the J&K Bank Chairman & CEO, Mushtaq Ahmad, said, “J&K Bank is the only corporate citizen in the state. We have devised our CSR policy to instill a sense of relief and protection among the most vulnerable sections of society. We don’t hesitate to capitalize on the expertise of professionals and organizations pursuing various causes of social concern and it continues to be our guiding force in the implementation and execution of our CSR initiatives. SKIMS is one such priority institute through which we are always eager to extend our helping hand to the health sector to achieve ‘health for all’ objective.”
As a responsible corporate citizen, health being one of our focus areas, it would be our endeavour to continue to contribute generously for treatment of poor and underprivileged patients suffering from serious ailments like malignancy, Kidney mal function, he said and further added: “Now that the scope of CSR policy has widened immensely we have also broadened our agenda for deeper impact in the societies we operate in.”
Director, SKIMS, Dr. Showkat Zargar, thanked the Chairman for announcing donation of CRRT and Colour Doplar ultrasound machines to the institute. “CRRT machine is definitely a big relief for the chronic kidney failure patients. In fact it’s a life saving machine,” said Dr. Zargar.
The Director hailed J&K Bank for its contribution in health sector. “The state-of-the–art dialysis machines donated by the bank have equipped us to cater to treatment needs of the poor and needy patients suffering from kidney failure for whom the treatment was otherwise unaffordable,” said Dr. Zargar.
He also appreciated the sensitivity of the bank towards academic excellence in the field of medical science, as the bank has been sponsoring national and international conferences held in SKIMS where expert medical faculties across the globe share their experiences with an ultimate objective to further better the healthcare facilities.
