J&K Bank convenes DLRC, conducts literacy camps

Srinagar, Feb 25: J&K Bank held the District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting of Rajouri District at PWD Dak Bungalow Rajouri under the chairmanship of DDC Hemant Kumar Sharma.


While reviewing the performance, DDC Rajouri expressed satisfaction on successful implementation of EBT (Electronic Benefit Scheme) in the district.
He directed the banks and government departments to organize awareness camps to popularize various sponsored schemes, so that youth of the area can take benefit of employment generating programmes.


Earlier, Lead District Manager Arvind Kapoor briefed the house about the achievement of banks on 31stDecember 2013 under Annual Credit Plan (ACP) 2013-14.
Against annual target of Rs 22906 lakhs total achievement was Rs 8494 lakhs under priority sector out of which Rs 3483 lakhs was disbursed to Agriculture sector, Rs 2343 lakhs to micro and small enterprise, Rs 78 lakhs to Education and Rs 1432 lakhs to Housing Sector. Deposits of the district have risen to Rs 2000.42 crore from Rs 1699.70 crore while as the advances have grown to Rs 474.07 crore from Rs 393.26 crore on YoY basis.


He said that the efforts of Social Welfare Department and Banks yielded results and Rajouri was one of the six districts to disburse social welfare pension through Electronic Benefit Scheme.


The meeting was attended by AGM RBI Gopal Dass, DDM NABARD Des Raj, district officers of line department and Bankers.


Baramulla Camps
The bank’s FLCC Baramulla center organised a financial literacy and credit counseling camp at Rural Self Employment and Training Institute (RSETI) Sopore in which forty trainees, selected under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) through Khadi and Village Industries Board, participated.
Facilitator FLCC informed the audience about PMEGP so that they don’t face problems while finalizing their credit proposals with the banks. The facilitator gave awareness about pre and post sanction of the credit besides post disbursement formalities required to be completed by the entrepreneurs.
The center organised two more credit counseling sessions in collaboration with NABARD. One such session was conducted in village Bagna (Block Boniyar) which was attended by a large number of people from Bagna and other adjacent areas mostly farmers, employees, businessmen, shopkeepers, transporters, students and unemployed youth.


He informed the audience about financial planning, advantages of savings with banks, concept of Business Correspondents, Khidmat centres, difference between formal and informal source of borrowings, different type of borrowings.


An official from Sheep Development Office spoke about various schemes, services and incentives available with the department for the farming community. He urged upon the audience to take benefit from these schemes for establishment of sheep units for earning of livelihood.


Present on the occasion, District Development Manager NABARD explained in detail the role and objectives of NABARD in the development of the country and gave a brief about the schemes which are bank linked like Integrated Development of Small Ruminants and Rabbits (IDSRR-Sheep) and Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (DEDS).


Head B.U Chandanwari threw light on various saving products of the Banks like Saving General, Recurring Plus and other fixed plans.
The center organised a district level workshop on Agri Clinics and Agri Business Centres collaboration with NABARD and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kupwara at KVK Kupwara wadura Campus.


Thirty Five agriculture graduates along with KVK faculty attended the workshop.


Kupwara Camp
The bank’s FLCC Kupwara center organised a camp at Bonagam Trehgam in collaboration with B.U Trehgam Kupwara.
The camp was attended by a cross-section of society including farmers, businessmen, traders, students and senior citizens besides the representatives from Agriculture, Horticulture departments of the district.


Facilitator FLCC informed the audience about opening of different accounts particularly the   savings account and educated them on budgeting, management of money, importance of savings and advantages of savings with and borrowings from the banks for better and safe future.


He impressed upon the student community and their parents/guardian to avail education loan for pursuing professional and other technical courses of their choice.
Earlier similar camps were conducted at Magam (Handwara), Lalpora (Lolab) and Deedar Pora (Qaziabad).


The participants hailed the initiative of the bank for conducting such awareness camps.
