J&K Bank admires, awards football players
J&K Bank Sports Board organised a banquet for its football team and other officials yesterday to celebrate the team's victory in two goodwill matches besides lifting the 14th Police Martyrs Trophy.
Announcing a cash prize of Rs 5000 to each of its team members the sports board also honoured some top performers of other clubs with cash awards who were part of J&K State team that beat Kolkata's high profile club Mohammedan Sporting twice.
Executive President and Bank's Sports Board Chairman, Tafazal Hussain presided over the function that was attended by Executive Presidents G M Sahibzada and Parvez Ahmad, President Abdul Rouf Bhat, Vice President Sunil Gupta and Asst. Vice President Mohammad Amin Khan besides all the players and officials of both junior and senior teams of the Bank.
Congratulating the team for their winning spree during the last few seasons Tafazal Hussain said, "The Bank not only aspires for quality football and positive results from its teams but expects self-discipline and fair-play from the boys."
Special cash prize of Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 was announced for state team's Goal-keeper Vikramjeet Singh and East Bengal striker Ishfaq Ahmad respectively who enthralled thousands of spectators during the recent games.
Other players to get cash prize of Rs 5000 each include state team captain and international footballer Mehraj-ud-din Wadoo, presently associated with Mohan Baghan Kolkatta, Rizwan Ahmad of J&K Forest and two other players Aman Thapa and Khalid Qayoom for their skillful show while playing for the state.
