Jammu & Kashmir chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, inaugurated ‘Pathway' at Srinagar Airport here today in presence of J&K Bank Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Mushtaq Ahmad at a simple but impressive function. Director Srinagar airport, top executives of J&K Bank and senior officers of Srinagar airport authority were also present on the occasion.

J&K Bank under its corporate social responsibility took the project (landscaping & maintenance) in hand a year ago bearing a capital cost of Rs.2.11 Crore and total recurring cost of Rs.4.25 lac per month on its maintenance. Total length of the road is 1072 running meters. While as total landscaping area is 53 kanal with 6 kanals of area under flower beds and green area (turfed area) is 40 kanals.
As on date, the pathway has been landscaped at a cost of over Rs.1.50 crore by the Bank.

The chief minister appreciated the J&K Bank’s intervention of beautification of the road connecting the main airport building and the drop-gate.

Commenting on the intervention in landscaping and maintaining the pathway at the airport, Mushtaq Ahmad Chairman & Chief executive Officer, J&K Bank, said, “It was disheartening to see this poorly maintained pathway some a year ago, even as there was scope to develop and beautify this stretch with decorative flora and fana on both sides. We offered landscaping and maintenance support of this road to the airport authorities and the result is before you.”

Meanwhile, the chairman disclosed that the Bank is contemplating to expand its CSR programme in a big way in J&K State. Now that the scope of CSR policy has widened immensely we have also broadened our agenda for deeper impact in the societies we operate in, he said.

“With a clear understanding of the social, economic and cultural geography of this region, our endeavour is to go beyond the narrative of philanthropic symbolism. This is being done by practically aligning the CSR policy with the Bank’s vision of peoples’ empowerment through servant leadership,” he said.

Notably, conscious of the importance of healthy environment, the bank reinforces its commitment to promote and propagate the cause of clean environment.
