CM inaugurates J&K Bank Business Unit, ATM at Killam in Kulgam

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti inaugurated J&K Bank’s state-of-the-art Business Unit (BU) and a high-tech ATM today at Killam in Kulgam district of south Kashmir.

The Chief Minister dedicated the BU and ATM to the public in presence of the Bank’s Chairman and CEO Parvez Ahmed.

Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat; Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar; MP, Nazir Ahmad Laway; MLA, Abdul Majeed Paddar; Chairman, J&K Bank, Parvez Ahmad; Commissioner-Secretary, Higher Education, Dr Asghar Samoon; Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan; Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, SJM Gillani; former Deputy Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Sartaj Madni; DIG, SKR, Nitish Kumar; Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz; Superintendent of Police, Shridhar Patel and other senior officers also graced occasion.

The bank’s Senior President Mohammad Syed Wani, Zonal Head Fayaz Ahmad Siddiqui, cluster head and other bank officials were also present besides a gathering of valuable customers, senior citizens, businessmen and local residents.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister appreciated the role of bank in extending excellent banking and financial services to the people in rural and far flung areas of the state. She also appreciated ambiance and good infrastructure of the branch.

She said, “ It was a long pending demand of the area to have a J&K Bank Branch and ATM. I am happy that the bank has fulfilled it.”

Chairman and CEO Parvez Ahmed thanked the Chief Minister for inaugurating the branch & ATM and for her words of appreciation.

He further said, “Conscious of the fast changing financial services scenario across the country especially after the demonetization process, the bank has geared itself to meet the upcoming challenges. We had already created a robust and customer-friendly digital platform with capacity to facilitate the huge but smooth transition from the cash-based transactions towards the digital dealings.”

“Moving towards the cashless economy our marketing focus shall remain more on the different digital channels like e-banking, mobile banking and PoS terminals. Such a transition will bring a lot of ease and security to the system besides increasing its efficiency”, he added.

Meanwhile, Chairman assured the people of best possible financial services and products at the business unit.

It was 747th business unit in the state and the number of ATMs in the state reached to 973.
