Chief Secrerary Dr A K Mehta launches J&K Bank's GSS e-Portal

Portal a major step in automation of processes to enable real-time tracking and efficient implementation of Government Sponsored Schemes: MD &  CEO

Making its loan application processing further transparent and efficient for Government sponsored schemes, J&K Bank has digitized the entire process through its in-house 'GSS e-Portal' rolled out on Friday.

J&K, chief secretary, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta launched the J&K Bank GSS e-Portal at Jammu Secreatariat in presence of Commissioner Secretary (Forest, Environment & Ecology Department) Sanjeev Verma, Commissioner Secretary (Revenue) Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, CEO JKEGA Amit Sharma, Secretary IT Prerna Puri, Additional Secretary to Chief Secretary Vishal Sharma, Bank’s MD & CEO Baldev Prakash, Executive President Sunil Gupta and other officials of the Bank in a simple but impressive function.

Chief Secrerary Dr A K Mehta described the Bank's in-house portal as an important step towards  transparency in the processing and real time tracking  of Government sponsored loan applications in the bank.

He said the initiative will address the longstanding concerns surrounding the processing of Government sponsored loan applications in the bank and enable the applicants and the sponsoring agencies to make timely interventions when required.

Earlier, MD and CEO Baldev Prakash made a presentation in which he informed that with the roll out of the J&K Bank GSS e-portal, the physical processing of the applications will cease immediately.

He said that the portal also has a provision of sending SMS requests to the applicants for completion of loan related formalities.

Reiterating the Bank's commitment towards realizing Government's vision, he said, “We continue to remain at the forefront of realizing the Government’s vision of inclusive and growing economy through effective financial intermediation and timely implementation of the employment generation programs for educated and energetic youth of J&K. In this direction, creation of GSS Portal is a major step in automation of the processes to enable real-time tracking and efficient implementation of all the Goverent sponsored schemes for the benefit and convenience of the people especially those belonging to economically weaker and vulnerable sections.”

On the occasion, he also apprised the Chief Secretary about various awards recieved by the Bank for its outstanding performance besides better rating from a reputed agency of the country.

Lauding the performance of J&K Bank, the Chief Secretary said it’s a matter of pride that the bank has been adjudged as the best in the country in the domains of digital financial inclusion and cyber risk management and has been rated as the fourth best bank in the implementation of PMEGP in FY 2021-22.

He also congratulated the management and staff upon improvement in the rating of the bank from negative to A+ stable.

Dr A K Mehta asked the Bank to enable the portal to send SMS alerts to the applicants intimating the reasons of rejection of their loan requests immediately after the rejections are made.

He also advised the Bank to ensure that access to the portal dashboard is also given to the secretaries in the government within a week for oversight.

Meanwhile, all Government Sponsored Scheme cases received shall now be on-boarded on the portal mandatorily on the very day of their reception at the respective business units, and the portal will generate a unique ID for each case triggering an SMS to the applicant as confirmation of the reception.
