J&K Bank conducted various financial literacy camps at various places in Baramulla and Kupwara which include villages Wagoora and Shrakwara in block Wagoora, village Odina in Block Sumbhal, Tujjar Sherif in block Zaingeer and Chail Patti Kupwara wherein a large sections of the society participated.
The bank’s FLCC Baramulla center organized an awareness and couselling camp reagarding Prime Ministers Jhan Dhan Yojna and other schemes of the bank in collaboration with Reserve Bank of India and the bank’s business unit Wagoora at Government Higher Secondary School in Wagoora village.
Led by the Vice-Principal of the school, students and faculty members attended the camp.
Facilitataor FLCC Baramulla Mohammad Sultan Dar spoke about the basics of financial planning, budgeting, essential and non essential expenses, advantages of savings with banks, concept of Business Correspondents, ultra small branches, khidmat centres and different types of borrowings.
He also educated the audience about Education Loan besides Kissan Credit Card and various income generating loan products of banks.
He dwelt in detail on the Prime Ministers Jhan Dhan Yojna and its objective of comprehensive coverage of all the financially excluded households in the country by a six pillar approach in two phases.
Since the overdraft facility under PMJDY is preferably to be allowed to the females the facilitator urged upon the audience to open two accounts both for male and female heads of the family.
He also spoke about Electronic Benefit Funds Transfer (RTGS & NEFT).
Lead District Officer (RBI) Ashok Kumar spoke about the role and functioning of Reserve Bank of India at length.
He urged upon the audience to remain cautious against various telephone calls and messages received from various agencies asking for bank account details and advised them not to disclose such information to any of these bogus and fraudulent agencies/persons.
LDM Barmulla also spoke on the occasion besides a faculty member from Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) Baramulla.
Certain clarifications were sought by the audience regarding Jhan Dhan Yojna and various products of bank which were duly clarified by the speakers on spot.
The camp concluded with a vote of thanks.
Kupwara Camp
Meanwhile, FLCC Kupwara organized a financial literacy camp in colloboration with Lead Bank Office and the Bank’s B.U Drugmuulla at Chail Patti Kupwara which was attended by senior citizens, farmers, businessmen and traders along with a good number of women.
Facilitator FLCC Kupwara informed the audience about opening of different accounts particularly the savings bank, other deposit accounts with the banks and educated them about management of money, importance and advantages of savings with and borrowings from the banks for better and safe future.
He also spoke about the importance of financial inclusion for overall development of economy of the society and urged the people to establish relationship with financial institutions by opening accounts with them at least one account for one family and avail the benefits under various people friendly schemes in general and PMJDY schemes in particular.
